about

Digitized cassette recordings of excerpts from my "Obsoletion and the Inability to Return to the Past" sound piece. Recordings made on the "Technology In Art" installation day, 2/1/22.

"Obsoletion and the Inability to Return to the Past" is an audience interactive sound piece with visual accompaniment by LoDrum and George Christ that was created for Art House Show's "Technology In Art" show at OKno1 / Lost In America gallery in February of 2022.

Recordings I made on cassette from the past 7 years are digitized. The digital files are then burned on to CD's. The CD's are then intentionally scratched, or "wounded" (Yasunao Tone's expression), to create unique properties in each of them when played. They are placed and interchanged between five CD players and played simultaneously to create and audience interactive, glitching, collage sound piece. The visual accompaniment was a similar process, but with DVD's.
